This delicious recipe for lemon cream with “Oenou Yi” Zivania, is proof that this unique Cypriot distillate can be used everywhere! So make this fine dessert, as written by Despina Telemachou, known as WineScribble, and published in her book The Taste of Zivania.


  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons “Oenou Yi” Zivania
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, to garnish


  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, stir together the heavy cream, sugar and lemon zest, until they boil.
  2. Lower the heat and simmer gently, stirring often, for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the lemon juice and “Oenou Yi” – Zivania and continue simmering for another 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and let the cream cool down for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour the cream in 4 glasses and refrigerate until firm.
  6. Serve with fresh strawberries.
